February Tip of the Month

We are headed for a cold front this week. Our winters are usually very unpredictable. It is important that your furnace is working properly. If not, it may be time to invest in a new one. Here are our 7 signs that it is time to replace your furnace:

  1. Age of Your Furnace
How old is your furnace. The average lifespan of a furnace is 15-20 years, depending on usage and maintenance. Check your owner’s manual for more information on lifespan.
  2. Your Home Has Become Overly Dusty
Are you noticing more dust and dirt buildup in your home when your furnace is running? If so, that could be a sign to install a new system.
  3. Humidity Issues
During the winter, humidity in your home could be an issue, especially if you have wood floors. Does the air feel dry? If so, your furnace could be the cause.‍4
  4. Rooms Unevenly Heating
As your furnace ages, it can be more difficult to push heat evenly throughout your home. If you have rooms that are cold and others that are warm, it could be a sign you need a new furnace.
  5. Your Furnace is Abnormally Noisy
Is your furnace making abnormally loud noises or rattling, buzzing or humming? Your system may have cracks or leaks that should be addressed.
  6. Cracked or Rusty Furnace
Cracked or rusty units are a sign that your system needs to be replaced. This naturally occurs over time as your furnace ages.
  7. Needs Repairs Continually
When your furnace begins to require increased repairs, you should consider replacement. If you see your repairman more than your friends, it’s time to call for a free estimate.
